QuaranTEEN Help: 5 Ways To Not Waste Crisis
Are you an Extrovert? Maybe you are like me saying, “Whoa, this is driving me nuts. I know it’s the right thing to do, but, I need some people time!” Ha.
Are you an Introvert? Maybe you are more like, “Whoa, this is driving me nuts. I know it’s the right thing to do, but, get all of these people away from me!” Ha.
I’m sure we are all learning many life lessons right now. Like how to get along with my family, how to make my own lunch, how many days I can go without a shower, and that it doesn't take long before I want to be back in school again!
Learn
One thing is for sure, we definitely want to learn everything we can in a crisis, because if we do not, we may have to go through it again. It is best to learn as much as you can when you're going for something difficult knowing that if you have to repeat it again, you will be stronger.
So many people try to avoid trials or difficulties. I've learned if we try to avoid difficulty, we will face it again but we will not be any more prepared than we were before.
Here's how you can avoid the virus, according to the CDC:
Avoid contact with sick people
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol)
It is especially important to clean hands after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose
Avoid traveling if you are sick
Stay home, monitor your health, and practice social distancing (staying out of crowded places, avoiding group gatherings, and maintaining distance of approximately 6 feet from others when possible)
Here are some practical things to do to not waste crisis:
Self check-in - Wake up at the same time, clean up, eat, and exercise for 30 minutes daily. It is important right now to maintain patterns and disciplines so that you are learning as much as possible from what you are going through.
God check-in - Set a daily and weekly discipline of worship, reading, prayer, and fasting. You're not going to have more time than you do not to do these kind of things. Sowing and reaping is a blessing and curse. You can make sure that it is a blessing in your life when you create spiritual disciplines.
YTH group check-in - This is a great time to volunteer for the YTH group. Every YTH ministry should be creating daily breakaways on social media. For instance, morning and afternoon or afternoon and evening devotionals or live casts on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are a great place to connect with your YTH group for spiritual discipline.
Friends check-in - What a moment for you to let your friends know that you're praying for them! Everyone is sensitive right now to spiritual things. This means the door is wide open for you to share your faith with them. Do not underestimate with the Holy Spirit can do during crisis.
Family check-in - Whether you are in a healthy home or not, this time can be a great moment for you and your family. Make sure you're not isolating yourself from your family right now. Spend time asking questions such as, how are you doing, what are your dreams, and how can I be a better son/daughter?
Better
Use these practical things to not waste this crisis. People who do not waste trials become stronger when they have to face another one. These kind of disciplines will bring you joy in the difficulty. Make sure that you come out better than you came into this crisis!
